The Gift wrapping feature in Maison lets customers add a paid wrapping service to the products in their cart.
Maison uses a regular SHOPLINE product as the gift-wrapping service. The price of that product becomes the wrapping fee per item, and the theme automatically keeps the gift-wrapping quantity synchronized with the number of regular items in the cart.
For example:

The feature is available in both:
- Cart drawer
- Cart page
Maison can also display an optional Gift note field after the customer enables gift wrapping.
Section overview
Gift wrapping is configured from:
Theme settings > Cart > Gift wrapping
Available settings include:

STEPS:
1. Create a Gift wrapping product
First, create a regular SHOPLINE product that Maison can use as the wrapping service.
- From your SHOPLINE admin, go to Products.
- Click Add product.
- Enter a product name.
For example:
Gift wrapping
- Add an image if you want the gift-wrapping line to have a thumbnail in the cart.
- Set the Price to the amount you want to charge per wrapped item.
For example:
Price: $10
- Make sure the product has an available variant.
- Save the product.
Recommended setup:

2. Select the Gift wrap product in Maison
After creating the product:
- Open the Maison theme editor.
- Open Theme settings.
- Select Cart.
- Locate the Gift wrapping settings.
- Click Gift wrap product.
- Select the product you created.
- Click Save.
Once a valid Gift wrap product is selected, Maison can display the Gift wrapping option whenever the cart contains regular products.
3. Set the gift-wrapping price
The Gift wrapping fee comes directly from the Price of the first available variant of the selected Gift wrap product.
For example:
Gift wrapping product price: $10
If the cart contains:
3 regular items
Maison adds:
3 × $10 = $30 gift wrapping
The default checkbox message automatically includes the current gift-wrapping price.
For example:
For $10.00 per item, please wrap the products in this order.
To change the wrapping fee later, update the Price of the Gift wrap product in SHOPLINE.
4. Customize the Gift wrapping checkbox label
Maison includes an optional Checkbox label setting.
To customize it:
- Open Theme settings > Cart.
- Locate Gift wrapping.
- Enter your text in Checkbox label.
- Click Save.
For example:
Add gift wrapping to my order
or:
Make this order gift-ready
If Checkbox label is left blank, Maison uses the default text and automatically includes the Gift wrap product price.
Maison also allows this field to be repurposed for another paid add-on service.
For example:
Add assembly service
However, the underlying behavior remains the same: the selected add-on product is added once for each regular item in the cart.
5. Enable the Gift note
Maison can display an optional message field for customers who select Gift wrapping.
To enable it:
- Open Theme settings > Cart.
- Locate Gift wrapping.
- Enable Show gift note.
- Click Save.
The Gift note field appears only after Gift wrapping has been enabled.
Customers can enter a message such as:
Happy Birthday! Hope you have a wonderful day.
The gift message is saved with the cart while Gift wrapping remains active.
If the customer removes Gift wrapping, Maison also clears the saved Gift note.
6. Understand how customers add Gift wrapping
When the cart contains at least one regular item, Maison displays the Gift wrapping checkbox.
When the customer enables it:
- Maison counts the quantity of regular products in the cart.
- It adds the Gift wrap product to the cart.
- The Gift wrap quantity is set to the same total quantity as the regular cart items.
- Maison marks Gift wrapping as active.
- The Gift note field appears if Show gift note is enabled.
For example:
Product A × 2
Product B × 1
Total regular item quantity:
3
Gift wrapping added:
Gift wrapping × 3
This means the wrapping charge applies per item, not once per order.
7. Understand automatic quantity synchronization
Maison automatically keeps Gift wrapping quantity synchronized with the number of regular items in the cart.
For example:
Before
Chair × 2
Gift wrapping × 2
If the customer changes the Chair quantity to:
Chair × 3
Maison updates Gift wrapping to:
Gift wrapping × 3
The same behavior applies when products are added to or removed from the cart.
8. Understand the Gift wrapping cart line
Maison displays Gift wrapping as a dedicated product line in the cart.
The Gift wrapping line:
- Uses the selected Gift wrap product title.
- Can display the Gift wrap product image.
- Displays the wrapping quantity.
- Displays the total wrapping charge.
- Is kept separate from regular product lines.
- Is placed after the regular products in the cart.
Unlike a regular product line, Maison does not link the Gift wrapping title or image to a Product page.
This keeps the product functioning as a cart service rather than as a normal storefront product.
9. Remove Gift wrapping
Customers can remove Gift wrapping in two ways.
Turn off the Gift wrapping checkbox
When the customer deselects Gift wrapping:
- The Gift wrap product is removed from the cart.
- The Gift wrapping state is cleared.
- The Gift note is cleared.
Remove the Gift wrapping line
Customers can also use the remove control on the Gift wrapping cart line.
Maison then disables Gift wrapping and removes the wrapping line from the cart.
10. Gift wrapping in the Cart drawer and Cart page
Maison displays the same Gift wrapping feature in both cart experiences.

Cart page
The Gift wrapping control appears below the main cart items.
The Gift wrap selection, quantity, and Gift note remain synchronized when customers move between the Cart drawer and Cart page.
11. Understand storefront visibility of the Gift wrap product
Maison treats the selected Gift wrap product as a special service product.
The theme automatically excludes it from normal product discovery areas including:
- Collection product grids
- Search results
- Predictive Search
This prevents customers from finding and purchasing the Gift wrap product like a normal store product.
12. Gift wrapping and the Free shipping bar
Maison excludes the Gift wrapping charge when calculating progress for the theme's Free shipping bar.
For example:
Products: $90
Gift wrapping: $15
Cart total: $105
For the Maison Free shipping bar, the qualifying merchandise value remains:
$90
The $15 Gift wrapping fee does not help the cart reach the free-shipping threshold.
This prevents a service fee from being counted as product merchandise toward the theme's free-shipping goal.
How Gift wrapping works
Maison follows this basic flow:

Suppose the Gift wrap product costs:
$4 per item
The customer's cart contains:

The wrapping charge automatically changes to:
2 × $4 = $8
Recommended setup
For the simplest and most predictable setup:
- Create one dedicated product named Gift wrapping.
- Give it one available variant.
- Set its Price to your wrapping fee per item.
- Select it under Theme settings > Cart > Gift wrapping.
- Leave Checkbox label blank if you want Maison to show the fee automatically.
- Enable Show gift note if customers should be able to add a message.
- Do not use the Gift wrap product as a normal merchandise product.
- Test changes to product quantities to confirm that the wrapping quantity stays synchronized.
Troubleshooting
If Gift wrapping does not display or work as expected, check the following:
- Make sure a Gift wrap product is selected under Theme settings > Cart.
- Confirm that the selected product has an available variant.
- Maison uses the product's first available variant.
- If the product is unavailable, the Gift wrapping option may not appear.
- Make sure the cart contains at least one regular product.
- Gift wrapping is not displayed for an empty cart.
- If the wrapping price is incorrect, check the Price of the Gift wrap product.
- Remember that the wrapping price is charged per regular item.
- If the Gift note is missing, enable Show gift note.
- The Gift note appears only after Gift wrapping is selected.
- If the checkbox does not show the price, check whether you entered a custom Checkbox label. The automatic price is included only in the default label.
- If the Gift wrapping quantity changes after updating product quantities, this is expected behavior.
- If the Gift wrap product does not appear in Collection or Search results, this is expected behavior.
- If Gift wrapping disappears after all normal products are removed, this is expected behavior.
- If the Free shipping bar does not count the Gift wrapping fee, this is expected behavior.
- Test the feature in both the Cart drawer and the Cart page.
