The Subcollections feature in Maison lets you display links to related collections directly on a collection page.

Maison uses a Menu block in the collection banner. You can create a dedicated navigation menu containing the collections you want to display, then assign that menu to the Navigation block in the collection template.
This is useful for helping customers quickly move between related product categories without returning to the main navigation.
For example, a Shop by room collection can display links to:
- Living room
- Bedroom
- Kitchen
- Dinner Room
How to Set Up Subcollections in Maison
Steps:
Create the collections

From your SHOPLINE admin, open Products > Collections.

Create the parent collection and any related collections you want to use as subcollections.

For example:
Living room
Bedroom

-
Add the appropriate products to each collection.
-
Configure the collection title, description, image, and other settings as required.
-
Save each collection.
The collections must exist before you can add them as links to the navigation menu.
Create a subcollections navigation menu
- From your SHOPLINE admin, open Online Store > Navigation.

-
Create a new navigation menu or open an existing menu that you want to use for the subcollections.
-
Give the menu a clear name, such as:
Shop by room -
Click Add menu item or Add submenu.
-
Enter the name you want customers to see.
-
In the link or referral URL setting, select the corresponding Product collection.
-
Repeat these steps for each collection you want to display.

For example:
Shop by room
├── Living room
├── Bedroom
├── Kitchen
└── Dinner Room
-
Arrange the menu items in the preferred display order.
-
Click Update or Save.
The order of the menu items determines the order of the collection links displayed by the Menu block.
Add the Menu block to the collection banner
-
From your SHOPLINE admin, open Online Store > Design.
-
Locate your Maison theme and click Design.
-
Use the page selector to open Collections.

Maison automatically displays the menu items as navigation links in the collection banner.
Each menu item links customers to the collection assigned to that item.
Arrange the Collection banner blocks
-
Open the Collection banner section.
-
Drag the blocks into the preferred order.
A common layout is:
Breadcrumb
Collection title
Collection description
Navigation
You can also move the Navigation block above or below the other banner content depending on the design you want.
-
Preview the result.
-
Click Save.
The Navigation block follows the layout and spacing settings of the Collection banner.
Configure subcollections for a specific collection template
-
Open the collection template selector in the Maison Theme Editor.
-
Select the collection template you want to configure.
-
Open the Collection banner.
-
Add or open the Menu block.
-
Select the required subcollections menu.
-
Click Save.
All collections assigned to this template use the Navigation block and menu configured in that template.
Use a dedicated collection template when different groups of collections need different subcollection menus.
Create different subcollections for different collection groups
If different collections need different subcollection menus, create separate collection templates.
For example:
Furniture template
└── Furniture subcollections
├── Chairs
├── Tables
└── Sofas
Lighting template
└── Lighting subcollections
├── Ceiling lights
├── Floor lamps
└── Table lamps
-
Create a separate navigation menu for each collection group.
-
Open the Maison Theme Editor.
-
Create or open the required collection template.
-
Open the Collection banner.
-
Select the appropriate menu in the Navigation block.
-
Save the template.
-
Assign the correct template to the relevant collections.
This allows different collection groups to display different navigation links.
Update the displayed subcollections
-
From your SHOPLINE admin, open Online Store > Navigation.
-
Open the menu assigned to the collection template.
-
Add, remove, rename, or reorder the collection links.
-
Click Update or Save.
You do not need to reselect the menu in the Theme Editor after changing its menu items.
Maison continues using the selected navigation menu and displays its updated links.
Remove subcollections from a collection template
-
Open the required collection template in the Maison Theme Editor.
-
Open the Collection banner.
-
Select the Navigation block.
-
Remove the block, or clear the selected menu if the Theme Editor provides that option.
-
Click Save.
Removing the Navigation block from the template does not delete the navigation menu from SHOPLINE.
You can reuse the same menu later or assign it to another collection template.
Subcollections behavior
- Maison displays subcollections through the Navigation block in the Collection banner.
- The Navigation block uses a menu selected in its Menu setting.
- Menu items can link directly to product collections.
- The order of the menu items controls the display order of the collection links.
- The same menu can be reused across multiple collection templates.
- A collection template can contain only one Navigation block in the Collection banner.
- Different collection templates can use different menus.
- Updating the menu in Online Store > Navigation updates the links displayed by the theme.
- Removing the Navigation block does not delete the menu or collections.
- The Navigation block is separate from the main product grid and collection filtering.
Using collection templates for different subcollections
Maison stores the Navigation block configuration at the collection-template level.
This means that collections using the same template also use the same selected navigation menu.
If you need different subcollection links for different collection groups, create separate collection templates and assign a different navigation menu to each template.
For example:
Collection template: Furniture
Menu: Furniture subcollections
Collection template: Lighting
Menu: Lighting subcollections
Collection template: Decor
Menu: Decor subcollections
This is the recommended way to organize different subcollection groups in Maison.
Collection banner layout
The Collection banner in Maison can include:
- Breadcrumb
- Collection title
- Collection description
- Navigation
The Navigation block can be reordered with the other banner blocks.
The section also provides settings for the banner image, mobile image, transparent header behavior, colors, layout, section width, size, divider, and spacing.
These settings affect the overall Collection banner and therefore also affect the position of the subcollection navigation.
Troubleshooting
If the subcollections do not appear, make sure a Navigation block has been added to the Collection banner.
If the Navigation block appears but there are no links, make sure a menu has been selected in the Menu setting.
If the menu is empty, open Online Store > Navigation and make sure it contains collection links.
If a menu item opens the wrong page, edit that menu item and make sure its referral URL points to the correct product collection.
If the subcollections appear on one collection but not another, check which collection template is assigned to each collection.
If two collections use the same template, they also use the same Navigation block configuration and selected menu.
If different collections need different subcollection links, create separate collection templates and select a different menu for each template.
If the collection links appear in the wrong order, reorder the menu items in Online Store > Navigation.
If the Navigation block was removed accidentally, add it again to the Collection banner and reselect the required menu.
If changes to the navigation menu are not immediately visible, save the menu, refresh the Theme Editor preview, and check the storefront again.
