How to Set Up the Free Shipping Message in Maison

The Free shipping message block in Maison shows customers how much more they need to spend before reaching your free-shipping threshold.

As the cart value increases, Maison updates:

  • The progress bar
  • The progress percentage
  • The remaining amount
  • The customer-facing message

When the qualifying cart value reaches the configured minimum amount, the message changes to confirm that the customer is eligible for free shipping.

Section overview

The Free shipping message is available on the Cart page inside the cart's Subtotal area.

It includes the following settings:

Setting Description
Free shipping minimum amount Sets the cart value required to reach free shipping.
Progress color Sets a solid color for the progress bar.
Progress gradient Applies a gradient to the progress bar.
Spacing Controls spacing around the block.

The default minimum amount is:

100

Maison also supports different thresholds for different currencies.

For example:

USD:100, EUR:95, JPY:13000

STEPS:

1. Add the Free shipping message block

To add the Free shipping message to the Cart page:

  • Open the Maison theme editor.
  • Open the Cart template.
  • Open the main Cart section.
  • Open the Subtotal block.
  • Click Add block.
  • Select Free shipping message.
  • Configure the minimum amount.
  • Click Save.

The Free shipping message can be added only once inside the Subtotal area.

2. Set the Free shipping minimum amount

Use Free shipping minimum amount to define the cart value required for free shipping.

Enter the amount using numbers only.

For example:

100

This means the Free shipping message reaches 100% when the qualifying cart value reaches:

$100

when the current cart currency is USD.

Do not enter a currency symbol for a single-currency setup.

Correct:

100

Avoid:

$100
3. Set different thresholds for multiple currencies

If your store supports multiple currencies, Maison lets you define a different free-shipping minimum for each currency.

Use this format:

CURRENCY:AMOUNT, CURRENCY:AMOUNT

For example:

USD:100, EUR:95, JPY:13000

Maison checks the customer's current cart currency and uses the corresponding amount.

For example:

Cart currency Threshold
USD 100
EUR 95
JPY 13000

If the customer is shopping in EUR, Maison uses:

95

as the free-shipping threshold.

4. Understand the remaining amount message

Before the customer reaches the threshold, Maison calculates the difference between:

  • The configured Free shipping minimum amount
  • The current qualifying cart value

The default message is:

Spend [remaining amount] more to reach free shipping!

For example, if the minimum is:

$100

and the qualifying cart value is:

$75

Maison displays:

Spend $25 more to reach free shipping!

The remaining amount updates automatically when the cart changes.

5. Understand the progress percentage

Before the free-shipping threshold is reached, Maison displays the current percentage inside the progress bar.

The progress is calculated as:

Qualifying cart value ÷ Free shipping minimum amount

For example:

Cart value Minimum Progress
$25 $100 25%
$50 $100 50%
$75 $100 75%
$100 $100 100%

The progress bar updates when customers:

  • Add products
  • Remove products
  • Increase quantity
  • Decrease quantity
  • Make other changes that update the cart total
6. Understand the message after reaching free shipping

When the qualifying cart value is equal to or greater than the configured threshold, Maison fills the progress bar completely.

The default success message is:

You are eligible for free shipping.

For example:

Free shipping minimum amount: $100
Qualifying cart value: $120

Maison displays the completed progress bar and the free-shipping confirmation message.

7. Understand Gift wrapping and the Free shipping message

If Maison's Gift wrapping feature is configured, the Gift wrapping charge is excluded from the value used by the Free shipping message.

For example:

Products: $90
Gift wrapping: $15
Cart total: $105

The Free shipping message uses:

$90

for its progress calculation.

If the free-shipping minimum is:

$100

the customer still needs:

$10

of qualifying product value.

This prevents the Gift wrapping service fee from helping the cart reach the theme's free-shipping threshold.

8. Customize the Progress color

The Free shipping message includes a Progress color setting.

To change it:

  • Open the Free shipping message block.
  • Select Progress color.
  • Choose the required color.
  • Click Save.

The selected color is applied to the progress indicator.

Use a color that remains clearly visible against the Cart footer background.

9. Add a Progress gradient

Maison also supports a Progress gradient.

To configure it:

  • Open the Free shipping message block.
  • Select Progress gradient.
  • Configure the required gradient.
  • Click Save.

A gradient can be used instead of a simple solid progress appearance.

This is useful when you want the Free shipping progress bar to match your store's visual branding.

10. Configure spacing

Use the block's Spacing settings to control the space around the Free shipping message.

You can adjust spacing so the bar aligns correctly with nearby Cart footer content such as:

  • Cart note
  • Subtotal price
  • Checkout button
  • Payment icons

The Free shipping message can be reordered with the other blocks inside the Subtotal area.

11. Change the default Free shipping text

Maison uses theme default text for both Free shipping message states.

The default remaining message is:

Spend [remaining amount] more to reach free shipping!

The default success message is:

You are eligible for free shipping.

If you want to change these messages:

  • Open the Maison theme editor.
  • Open Edit default text.
  • Search for the current Free shipping message text.
  • Replace it with your preferred wording.
  • Save your changes.

For example, you could change the remaining message to:

You're only [remaining amount] away from free delivery!

and the success message to:

Congratulations! Your order qualifies for free delivery.
12. Understand the Cart header message

The Cart template also includes an Additional message setting in the Cart header.

For example, the Maison demo can display a static message such as:

Free Shipping on All Orders Over $75

This Cart header message is separate from the Free shipping message block.

The difference is:

Feature Behavior
Cart header Additional message Static text entered manually.
Free shipping message Dynamic progress bar and remaining amount based on the cart value.

If you change your free-shipping threshold, remember to update any static Cart header message separately.

How the Free shipping message works

Maison follows this logic:

Free shipping minimum amount configured?
│
├── No
│ └── Do not display the Free shipping message
│
└── Yes
    │
    ├── Multi-currency value?
    │ │
│ ├── Yes → Find threshold for current cart currency
    │ │
    │ └── No → Use entered amount
    │ │
│ └── No matching currency → Do not display the bar
    │
    └── Calculate qualifying cart value
        │
├── Exclude Maison Gift wrapping charge
        │
        ├── Value < threshold
        │ ├── Calculate remaining amount
        │ ├── Calculate progress percentage
        │ └── Show "Spend ... more" message
        │
        └── Value >= threshold
├── Fill progress bar to 100%
            └── Show free-shipping success message

Example

Suppose you configure:

Free shipping minimum amount: 100

The cart contains:

Product A × 1 = $40
Product B × 1 = $35

Qualifying cart value:

$75

Maison calculates:

$100 - $75 = $25 remaining

Progress:

75%

The customer sees:

Spend $25 more to reach free shipping!

After adding another $30 product:

Qualifying cart value: $105

Maison displays:

You are eligible for free shipping.

Recommended setup

For the most reliable setup:

  • Configure the actual free-shipping condition in SHOPLINE shipping settings first.
  • Use the same threshold in Maison's Free shipping minimum amount.
  • Enter numbers only for a single-currency store.
  • Use currency codes for multi-currency stores.
  • Make sure every enabled storefront currency has a matching threshold.
  • Keep static Cart header messages consistent with the dynamic Free shipping threshold.
  • Test values below, exactly at, and above the threshold.
  • If Gift wrapping is enabled, remember that its fee does not count toward the progress bar.

Troubleshooting

If the Free shipping message does not work as expected, check the following:

  • Make sure the Free shipping message block has been added inside the Cart page's Subtotal area.
  • Make sure Free shipping minimum amount is not empty.
  • For a single currency, enter numbers only and do not include a currency symbol.
  • For multiple currencies, use the correct format, such as USD:100, EUR:95, JPY:13000.
  • Make sure the current cart currency has a matching currency code in the multi-currency configuration.
  • If no matching currency threshold exists, the Free shipping message does not display.
  • If the progress amount seems lower than the Cart total, check whether Gift wrapping is enabled. Maison excludes its charge from the calculation.
  • If the theme says the customer qualifies for free shipping but checkout still charges shipping, check your SHOPLINE shipping-rate configuration.
  • If the message text needs to change, use Edit default text.
  • If the progress bar is difficult to see, adjust Progress color or Progress gradient.
  • The Free shipping message is available on the Cart page, not the current Maison Cart drawer.
  • If you also use a static Cart header free-shipping message, update it separately when changing the threshold.
  • Save your changes and test the Cart page with several cart values.
