How to Set Up the Video Section in Be Yours

The Video section displays a video with an optional heading. You can use a video uploaded to Shopify or embed a public YouTube or Vimeo video. Customers click the video cover to start playback.

Version note: Shopify-hosted videos and video looping were added in Be Yours 7.0.0. Starting with 9.5.0, the theme also provides video structured data to help search engines understand video content when a suitable thumbnail is available. These instructions are based on Be Yours 9.5.1.

STEPS:

1. Add the Video Section

• From Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize.
• Open the page template where you want to display the video.
• Click Add section and select Video.
• Choose your video source and configure the section settings.
• Click Save.

2. Set Up the Video

Setting	Description
Enable video looping	Replays the video when it reaches the end. Disabled by default.
Video	Select a Shopify-hosted video from your store's files.
URL	Enter a public YouTube or Vimeo URL. Used only when no Shopify-hosted video is selected.
Cover image	Select an image to display before an embedded video plays.
Video alt text	Describe the video for customers using screen readers.

• Shopify-hosted video: Select a video in Video. The theme uses its preview image when available.
• YouTube or Vimeo: Leave Video empty, enter the link in URL, and select a Cover image if needed.

Note: The Shopify-hosted video takes priority if both video sources are filled in. This section uses click-to-play rather than automatically playing a video when the page opens.

3. Configure Layout and Heading

Setting	Description
Make section full width	Extends the video section across the available browser width.
Show section divider	Adds a divider above the section.
Heading	Adds a heading above the video.
Heading size	Choose Small, Medium, or Large.
Heading alignment	Align the heading Left, Center, or Right.
Heading tag	Choose the heading's semantic tag.
Top padding	Adjust spacing above the section.
Bottom padding	Adjust spacing below the section.

4. Configure Heading Highlight

Setting	Description
Enable highlight	Applies the selected highlight effect to italic text in the heading.
Highlight style	Selects the highlight effect, such as Marker, Circle, or Underline.
Highlight color	Sets the color of the highlight effect.

Please use italic formatting by selecting the text you want to highlight and then clicking the italic (I) button in the editor.

5. Video SEO and Notes

• From Be Yours 9.5.0, supported videos can include VideoObject structured data for search engines. A usable video thumbnail is required.
• YouTube videos can use their YouTube thumbnail. For Vimeo, add a Cover image; Shopify-hosted videos can use their video preview image.
• Structured data helps search engines understand the video but does not guarantee a rich result or video indexing.
• This section displays one video and has no content blocks. For a row of multiple shoppable clips, use the Shoppable video section instead.
• Videos load for playback when customers click the video cover.

6. Troubleshooting

• If the wrong video plays, check whether a Shopify-hosted Video is selected, since it takes priority over URL.
• If an external video does not play, check that its YouTube or Vimeo URL is valid and the video allows embedding.
• If the video preview is missing, add a Cover image or check the Shopify-hosted video's preview.
• If the video stops after one play, enable Enable video looping.
• If the heading highlight does not appear, enable Enable highlight and format the desired text in italic.
