How to Set Up the Slideshow Section in Concept

The Slideshow section lets you display a rotating hero area with image or video slides. Each slide can include a heading and an optional button, making it useful for promotions, featured collections, campaign banners, brand messages, or seasonal announcements. The section supports both desktop and mobile media, autoplay, navigation controls, overlay colors, section spacing, full-width layout, rounded corners, and parallax effects. How to Set Up the Slideshow Section in Concept Steps: Add the Slideshow section From your Shopify admin, open Online Store > Themes. Click Customize on your Concept theme. Open the template where you want to display the slideshow. Click Add section. Select Slideshow. Drag the section to the position where you want it to appear. Click Save. After adding the section, you can add image or video slides and adjust the slideshow behavior. Configure slideshow behavior Open the Slideshow section in the theme editor. Enable Autoplay if you want the slides to rotate automatically. Use Change every to set how many seconds each slide stays visible when autoplay is enabled. Enable Show navigation if you want customers to move between slides using navigation controls. Use Image height to control the desktop slideshow height. Use Image height mobile to control the slideshow height on mobile devices. Set Content width to control how wide the heading and button content can appear. Add Accessibility information to describe the slideshow for screen readers. Click Save. The slideshow navigation appears only when the section has more than one slide and Show navigation is enabled. Add an Image slide Open the Slideshow section. Click Add block. Select Image. Upload or select the desktop image in the Image setting. Upload a Mobile image if you want to show a different image on mobile devices. Add a Heading for the slide. Choose the Heading size and Heading tag. Add a Button label and Button link if you want the slide to include a call-to-action. Choose the Button style. Enable Open this link in a new window if the button should open in a new browser tab. Enable Show button icon if you want to display an icon inside the button. Click Save. If the Button label is blank but a Button link is added, the whole slide image can act as a clickable link. Add a Video slide Open the Slideshow section. Click Add block. Select Video. Add a Shopify-hosted video in the Video setting, or add an external video link in the Video URL setting. Upload a Cover image if you want to control the preview image before the video loads. Add a short Description for accessibility. Add a Mobile video, Mobile video URL, or Mobile cover image if you want a different video experience on mobile devices. Add the slide Heading and optional Button settings. Click Save. Video slides are displayed as background-style media inside the slideshow. The theme uses muted and looping video behavior for the slideshow experience. Arrange slideshow blocks Add multiple Image or Video blocks to create the slideshow. Drag blocks up or down in the theme editor to change the slide order. Use the eye icon beside a block if you want to hide a slide temporarily. Delete any slide block that is no longer needed. Click Save after making changes. The Slideshow section supports up to 5 slide blocks. Customize colors and overlay Use Text color to adjust the slide heading color. Use Background or Background gradient to style the section background. Use Button text color and Button background color to style slideshow buttons. Use Button background gradient if you want a gradient button background. Use Overlay color to add a color layer over the image or video. Use Overlay opacity to make the overlay lighter or darker. Click Save. Overlay settings are useful when the slide text needs more contrast over bright or busy images. Configure section layout Use Top padding and Bottom padding to adjust the spacing around the slideshow. Enable Show section divider if you want a divider line around the section. Enable Make section full width if you want the slideshow to span the full browser width. Enable Make section rounded if you want rounded corners around the section. Enable Parallax if you want the slideshow media to move with a parallax effect while scrolling. Choose the Parallax direction: Vertical Horizontal Zoom Click Save. The full-width and rounded settings help the slideshow match different homepage or landing page layouts. Troubleshooting The slideshow does not appear Make sure the Slideshow section has been added to the correct template. Make sure the section is not hidden in the theme editor. Make sure at least one Image or Video block is added. Make sure the block is not hidden. Click Save and refresh the storefront preview. The slideshow does not rotate automatically Open the Slideshow section settings. Make sure Autoplay is enabled. Make sure the section has more than one slide. Adjust Change every if the autoplay speed is too slow or too fast. Check the storefront outside the theme editor, because autoplay behavior may be affected by editor preview mode. Navigation controls do not show Make sure Show navigation is enabled. Make sure the slideshow has more than one slide block. Check the desktop and mobile previews, because navigation display can vary by screen size. The mobile image or video does not show Open the slide block. Make sure Mobile image, Mobile video, or Mobile video URL is added. If no mobile media is selected, the theme uses the desktop media as the fallback. Check the mobile preview in the theme editor. The text is difficult to read Increase Overlay opacity. Choose a darker or lighter Overlay color depending on the image. Adjust the Text color. Use a less busy image behind the heading. Reduce the amount of text in the slide heading.
